Zhengzhou University colloquially known in a Chinese as Zhèngdà is a public university located in Zhengzhou, Henan, People’s Republic of China. Zhengzhou University is the largest university in China in term of student number. The Campus size is the tenth largest in China at 433 hectares.

Zhengzhou University is on the list of National “211 Project” of key construction universities, and of “One Province, One University” of National Key Support Construction Universities, as well as of co-construction universities by Henan Province and Ministry of Education. It is a Chinese Ministry of Education Double First Class University.

As of September 2017, Zhengzhou University is on the list of World Double First-class University Project, i.e., Chinese worldwide first-class universities and first-class disciplines constructive project.

As of March 2018, Zhengzhou University is on the list of Ministry-Province Co-constructed Universities Project, announced by the Chinese Ministry of Education, during the National People’s Congress and the Chinese Political Consultative Conference.

After years balanced development, Zhengzhou University now is a multi-discipline institution with 12 fields, such as, science, engineering, medicine, literature, history, philosophy, law, economics, management science, pedagogy, agriculture and arts. Currently there are six national key disciplines, condensed matter physics, materials processing engineering, history of ancient China, organic chemistry, chemical technology, pathology and pathophysiology; four disciplines ranked top 1% in ESI globally, chemistry, clinical medicine, materials science and engineering; 21 first-level disciplines are authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 3 independent second-level disciplines to confer doctoral degrees, 55 first-level disciplines to confer master’s degrees, as well as 24 post-doctoral research stations. There are 47 Schools and 9 affiliated hospitals in Zhengzhou University. The number of staff is over 6,000, 4000 academic members, 33 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Science and Engineering (10 full-time, 22 part-time and 3 oversea), 670 professors, and 1,600 associate professors. In year 2016, there are around 55,000 undergraduate students, 15,000 graduate students and 1,800 international students studying in Zhengzhou University.
